This paper describes an example of Industry 4.0 – the Fraunhofer Future Packaging Line. The Fraunhofer display featured a concept of the world’s first open, multi-vendor, IoT-connected surface mount technology (SMT) line, demonstrating the technology and the mutually beneficial business model opportunities that arise from IoT connectivity.
